About the Landscape Queensland Award Winning Projects:
University of Queensland Lake Rehabilitation and Amphitheatre Project
The University of Queensland Lake Renewal & Amphitheatre Enhancement Project took place within the St Lucia Campus of the University of Queensland. The project involved the recovery of the main lake which had started showing signs of deterioration, along with the revitalisation of the surrounding precinct to enhance student, staff and the wider community experience.
Working closely with the university and consultants, we redesigned and reconstructed the main lake using modern design principles required to restore and maintain lake health. Approximately 8,000 trees, palms and shrubs, and 66,000 wetland plants were planted in and around the lake to provide habitat, achieving the goal of a self-sustaining sub-tropical lake system, and for the surrounding lake precinct.
We also created a formalised external amphitheatre space with a pavilion structure suitable to hold several different types of events. The result is an engaging landscape for respite, recreation, and social and community gatherings.
With the restoration of the lake’s health, a self-sustaining ecosystem has been created, with the ideal conditions to provide habitat and enable flora and fauna to thrive.

Everleigh Central Parkland, Greenbank
The Everleigh Central Parkland spans 5.5 hectares, and includes the Everleigh AFL Oval and warm-up field, grandstand seating and surrounds. The project was delivered for the Everleigh Greenbank community, on behalf of our client Mirvac.
This facility is fully equipped with a robust irrigation system and drainage, terraced insitu concrete seating, custom coaches boxes, full LED scoreboard, a maintenance shed and accessible ramps. Notably, the project’s appeal is further enhanced by the presence of large ex-ground Fig trees surrounding the field, promising future shade and optimal viewing for spectators on the elevated greenspace.
Extensive rock subgrade provided some challenges throughout the build, however these were effectively surmounted through the dedicated efforts of the team working on the project.
