Landscape Solutions worked with Lendlease Communities on the creation of a new housing estate in Calderwood Valley, Calderwood Estate.
The new estate boasts breathtaking views of the Illawarra escarpment, and is just 30km from Wollongong and 20 minutes from Shellharbour beaches. Sandstone walls are featured throughout the estate, complementing the shelters and shaded spaces. Organically situated concrete pathways lead residents to key areas in the estate, and timber fencing around the boundary fits in with the countryside surroundings.
The works completed at Calderwood Estate comprised of four stages spanning over one and a half years.
The materials chosen for this job support the design principles determined by landscape architects, Taylor Brammer. These included ensuring longevity through low maintenance, delivering quality and consistency, creating a contemporary style with clean lines as well as retaining heritage links to rural and indigenous culture.
Seasonal plants and shrubs were chosen to reflect the design brief and give Calderwood Valley a ‘wow’ factor, no matter what time of year it is. The rammed earth walls are the highlight of this job. Their unique design and remarkable execution have onlookers marvelling at their presence.
