What makes a great leader? How is leading different from managing? It’s more difficult to answer than you might think – or at least that’s what we learnt when we completed a five-part leadership series with The Learning Circle.
We engaged The Learning Circle to deliver this five-part series on leadership as part of our commitment to developing great people. This program was delivered across New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and New Zealand.
Realising that for many of us, the ability to be a great leader isn’t necessarily something that comes naturally, we were looking to not only develop our peoples’ capability, but to strengthen our culture through better communication, motivation and setting a good example.
The Harvard Business Review sums it up nicely, explaining:
“Occupying a leadership position is not the same thing as leading. To lead, you must be able to connect, motivate, and inspire a sense of ownership of shared objectives.”
Our goal was that our team have the practical skills necessary to effectively lead.
“In 2022, The Learning Circle was appointed by Landscape Solutions to run a Leadership Fundamentals program to four cohorts of leaders” says Vanessa Panayi, Director of The Learning Circle.
“The program was delivered in five modules that were designed to assist leaders in building practical skills to develop the fundamentals of leadership.”
“We loved the experience of working with these leaders at Landscape Solutions, we found they were open to pushing themselves out of their comfort zones and exploring new perspectives and ideas when it came to leadership.”
“Overall, many of the leaders in the program implemented their learnings from the program, achieving great outcomes for the business.”
It was great to have the opportunity to collectively discuss what makes a great leader, the difference between managing and leading, and challenging each other on areas we could do better.
We would like to extend our thanks to The Learning Circle team for delivering such an enjoyable and engaging course.
